Massage Therapy

Massage therapy enables relaxation and relief from muscular pain for a range of people experiencing various conditions. There are a range of techniques that can be used which aim to reduce tension and enhance tissue healing. Massage can be for remedial or relaxation purposes, however both strive to promote wellness.

An initial consultation will include identifying reasons and goals for having a massage, the current physical condition and the patient’s medical history.

Remedial massage aims to assess and treat the connective tissues of the body, assisting with rehabilitation, pain and injury management.  Relaxation massage, however, is designed to reduce stress and tension of the individual by promoting calmness and deep breathing.

Massage can alleviate pain for a patient suffering from a range of conditions, however, it also promotes general wellbeing.  Massage has a range of benefits including but not limited to reducing muscle tension, improving motion, promoting steady breathing, relieving stress by promoting relaxation, improving blood circulation, enhancing health of skin, reducing pain and anxiety and increasing the mind- body connection.

The treatments used by massage therapy involve physical contact and manual techniques that include fixed or movable pressure to a localised area or the whole body.

Conditions commonly treated include:

  • Sporting Injuries
  • Stiffness / pain associated with poor posture
  • Neck & Back pain
  • Headaches
  • Stress / tension
  • Whiplash
  • Overuse injuries such as tendonitis / RSI

Massage strives to heal a patient, by providing physical relief and relaxation. A masseuse can identify and treat areas of pain or discomfort if necessary, or reduce overall tension, thus improving your overall feeling of wellbeing.
